Diego Rocha
Handbag Designer
Diego Rocha is a Brazilian-born handbag designer. He began his career in the finance field, before making the transition to designer. Fortunately for Diego, fashion is in his genes: His mother was a pattern maker, Diego grew up playing with needles, scissors, and colorful scraps of cloth. Diego is inspired by exotic skins and animals, many of which come from his native Brazil.
Before settling in Chicago in 2005, Diego lived in New York where he perfected his skills. To create his own collection, he locked himself in his apartment for six months, experimenting with materials and teaching himself the techniques necessary to crystallize his vision. This devotion to his craft shines through every Diego Rocha design. Each item is hand-constructed; Diego personally handpicks the materials, patterns and colors. This personal attention to detail and craftsmanship is what makes each handbag unique. His bags have appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines, including the Chicago Tribune, Chicago, Vanity Fair UK, Time Out, Kouture and Factio magazine.
