Jan Planit has spent 20 plus years as a top talent manager, recruiter and entrepreneur in the multi-billion dollar fashion and modeling industry. She has worked with some of the most successful names in the industry including Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Cindy Crawford, Giselle, Nikki Taylor, and many others. Jan was instrumental in the founding and building of NEXT Model Management, and turn-around and building of the IMG brand; helping both become two of the most recognized and successful modeling agencies in the world.
At IMG, Planit led all initiatives to define the agency’s new image; recruiting agents and establishing relationships with agencies around the world. Planit set a foundation for identifying and attracting only the best models in the world, by utilizing the international reputation of the $2+ billion management company, helping to build both a New York agency and a brand. Planit built and managed offices in London, Paris, and Brazil, completing a successful international expansion that remains one of the best in the business to this day. Top talent for the agency included: Gisele, Nikki Taylor, Rebecca Romijn, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Caroline Murphy, Shalom Harlow, Angela Lindvall, Alek Wek, Daria Werbowy and Liya Kabede.
Most recently, Planit worked on independent projects including charity and fashion oriented events for various organizations. In addition, in 2004 Jan launched PLANIT M, a management company representing models, celebrities, and musicians. Planit put her expertise to work re-launching Cindy Crawford’s modeling career, as well as working with high-powered Hollywood talent including Rosario Dawson and Denise Richards.
Currently, Planit has taken on consulting projects for various clients ranging in scope from model representation to contract negotiations on behalf of talent, as well as the corporate clients themselves. Clients
include: Platinum Rye Entertainment, Proctor & Gamble, Yoga Works, Frederique Van Der Wal, Shelby Keeton, Tinsley Mortimer, The Core Club, Emmy award winning stylist Brenda Cooper and various other entities in the entertainment and lifestyle brand categories.
Planit has appeared as an expert in the industry on the Tyra Banks show, E! Entertainment, and quoted in various news publications from the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the NY Post. Planit was also a producer for the nationally televised NBC Sports TV show FASHION ON ICE, and had a cameo appearance on the independent nationally released film The Doorman.
Planit is active in various community service organizations. She served as an Executive Producer for the Charity Water PSA due to air Spring 2012, Consults to The Green Divas organization creating awareness for all to live a healthy sustainable lifestyle, as well as serves on the committee for child related causes.
