Holidays are filled with parties and dinners, friends and family. Which means decorating the house—but how? VandM reached out to three decorators, asking them to talk about their holiday must haves for themselves and their clients—and for friends of VandM.

Courtney Cachet
You’ve probably seen New York designer Courtney Cachet on NBC-TV and other stations, offering advice about everything from kitchen makeovers to the perfect hostess present. She relishes the idea of incorporating her travel experiences into her holiday decorating: “The holidays are all about memories—incorporating your exotic treasures into your home makes it interesting and all about you.” Although her well-traveled clients have more than enough collectibles for her to work with, Cachet suggests “anyone can get the same feel for the holidays, without all the travel. The online shopping landscape for these unique items has changed significantly and quickly.”
1.“I adore the Italian lighting at VandM. The Italians are known for their design, and they appreciate beauty and detail like nobody else!” 2. “Chinese antiques are hotter than ever. I love to use pieces on the tablescape for the holidays.” 3. “I’m very into warming up the bedroom for the holidays. Headboards are the perfect way to do so—a really thick, tufted, vintage kind. Pair them with more modern furniture and you’ve got the chicest bedroom.”
1."Rolex watches are classic. This one, with a pop of orange, is so modern and stylish. I want one!" 2. "I love the single floral pendant—it’s so simple and chic, and makes a great statement." 3. "The emerald green of this pair of chairs is so striking. The tufting makes them feel dressed up!"
1."I want this piece. It goes with everything! And gold is so in!" 2. “Love hammered silver. Its very masculine and at the same time very sexy!” 3. “During the holidays I love to entertain all of my friends and family, so I have decided to make sure that my guests are sitting in high style. I love to use Chippendale-accent chairs in my interiors. The striking carved chairs give the space texture and personality, as opposed to chairs with upholstered backs. Most dining tables are created from a slab material, so carved chairs give the room variety—they are definitely a must have this season.”
Early in her career Eileen Kathryn Boyd set her sights sky high: She designed for Falcon Jet, fashioning interiors for many of the company’s high-profile private jet owners. Now the principal of Eileen Kathryn Body Interiors, in Huntington, New York, Boyd emphasizes color in her designs, “breathing life into dark-drab spaces.” This is particularly important during the holiday season, she suggests, when color can brighten even the darkest days. Her holiday must haves run the gamut from home furnishings to watches. The one common element: bold colors.

Jamie Herzlinger is founder and creative director of JH Interiors, with offices in New York and Scottsdale, Arizona. She also heads a custom-home building company and recently launched a collection of furniture and an online publication, Jamie Loves. Despite her busy schedule (perhaps because of it), Herzlinger looks forward to the holidays as a chance to reconnect: “During the holidays I love to entertain all of my friends and family, so I have decided to make sure that my guests are sitting in high style. I love to use Chippendale-accent chairs in my interiors. The striking carved chairs give the space texture and personality, as opposed to chairs with upholstered backs.
