DESIGN MIAMI: NO MORE RULES

Something old, something new, something borrowed. In its latest edition, the Design Miami fair offers several dishes of quirky historicism, established and future design classics. The fair, which runs through Sunday, is bustling with activity, booths are crowded and display cases obscured by rows of curious onlookers and dedicated collectors.

An ode to classic neo-rococo is featured at Paris’s Galerie Kreo, in the prominent display of Alessandro Mendini’s Poltrona di Proust armchair, a limited edition (6 plus 2 A.P. plus 1 prototype) that was introduced circa 1980. Perhaps echoing global recycling concerns, this latest edition of the iconic chair no longer carved of wood is cast in bronze patinated green with deliberately distressed leather upholstery. (€75,000)
