As the tenth anniversary of 9/11 grows near, Time Warner Cable will be hosting Joe McNally’s “Faces of Ground Zero-Ten Years” exhibit at the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle, August 24- September 12. VandM is a friend of the exhibit.
The exhibition will be home to more than 50 photos from McNally’s “Faces of Ground Zero, Portraits of the Heroes of September 11.” The original life-size Polaroids, new digital images and exclusive video interviews, captured with Nikon D-SLR cameras, will illustrate where the survivors are now and how 9/11 has changed their lives.
McNally is an award-winning photographer, who was a staff photographer for LIFE magazine as well as an assignment-based photographer for National Geographic. His 2002 tour of “Faces of Ground Zero, Portraits of the Heroes of September 11″ was seen by approximately one million people and raised more than $2 million for 9/11 relief efforts from sales of the collection and related books.
Those featured in “Faces of Ground Zero–Ten Years Later” include: Louie Cacchioli, a firefighter who saved approximately 40-50 people from Tower 1; Josephine Harris and Ladder 6 (known as “the Miracle House”); Chef Michael Lomonaco, who was the executive chef of Windows on the World restaurant located in the North Tower and who is the current executive chef of Porter House New York; and (former) Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
