1. Lalique Museum Opens in France
The Musée Lalique, a museum dedicated to René Lalique’s legendary and beautiful glasswork, is scheduled to open on July 2nd in Wingen-sur-Moder in Alsace, France. With about 650 sparkling artifacts, this is the first Lalique museum in the founder’s native country of France and will be sure to dazzle spectators from around the world. 2. Marking Infinity
Beginning June 24th and running until September 28th, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York will be displaying the works of South Korean artist-philosopher Lee Ufan in an exhibit entitled Marking Infinity. Featuring a variety of works ranging from paintings to stone arrangements, this retrospective exhibit highlights Ufan’s style of minimal abstraction and his philosophy of accepting the world as it is. 3. Don’t Quit Your Day Job
The Don’t Quit Your Day Job exhibition at the Hasted Kraeutler gallery in Chelsea will be featuring photographs by the gallery owners that illustrate their fantasies of who they might have been had they not chosen their current careers. Running from July 7th to August 19th, these works will be sold to benefit Lotus House in Miami, a shelter for homeless women and children. 4. Richard Avedon: Photographer of Influence
At the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor on Long Island, an exhibition featuring the work of photographer Richard Avedon, entitled Richard Avedon: Photographer of Influence, is currently running through September 4th. Because he is best known for his portraits, the exhibit showcases Avedon’s iconic snapshots that, for the first time in photography, presented celebrities in an authentic manner. 5. Portraits de Villes
French publishing group Be-Pôles presents the exhibition Portraits de Villes, in which twelve photographers will represent twelve international cities. The exhibition will run from June 29th to July 31st at the Clic Gallery in Manhattan. Clic Gallery, http://www.clicgallery.com/.
6. Art in the Streets
For the first time in the U.S., there will be a museum exhibition showcasing the history of graffiti and street art. This groundbreaking exhibition is running from April 17th to August 8th at the Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and features installations by 50 alternative artists. 7. ArtHamptons
Specializing in post-war and contemporary art, ArtHamptons will be putting on its fourth annual exhibition in Sayre Park in Bridgehampton, New York. Exhibitors from around the world come together at this show, which will be running from July 7th to 10th. ArtHamptons, http://www.arthamptons.com/.
8. Scoop International Fashion Show
Fashion lovers beware; the Scoop International Fashion Show, a tradeshow showcasing women’s apparel and accessories, is around the corner. From August 7th to 9th, over seventy premium brands will exhibit their products in London’s Saatchi Gallery. Saatchi Gallery, http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/.
9. From Greco to Dalí
The San Diego Museum of Art will be the only American museum that will host the exhibit From Greco to Dalí: Spanish Masters from the Pérez Simón Collection, a survey of works by Spanish artists made from the 16th century to the late 20th century. 10. Ann Weber: Love and Other Auadacities
If intricate, larger than life sculptures made from cardboard sound enticing, then you will find your dream exhibit at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles.
