Sweet, sweet Memorial Day: the unofficial start of summer, oppressive NYC-heat and a perfect excuse to start enjoying your meals outside. Indeed, I did enjoy a picnic yesterday in honor of the holiday, but, honestly, it felt so pedestrian. Plastic forks and sipping out of Dixie Cups–boring! I vow to up the ante this summer and only picnic with the best. First up on my list are:
Blankest aren’t really my thing. I prefer this late 19th century Campaign bed recovered in a Brunschwig & Fils print to lounge on. Note: find someone to carry for me.
This amazing artillery shell Champagne cooler.
Toss around a plastic Frisbee? Please. I’ll sit in the shade playing backgammon on this circa 1850-80s Pennsylvania backgammon set.
Certainly they’ll be an outlet nearby to crank up this Industrial style 70″ aluminum floor fan.
For lemonade, I love this Gio Ponti for Venini carafe and tumbler set.
Whoever is carrying my Campaign bed is also responsible for toting this 1920s handpainted Chinese picnic basket for me.
I can manage these 1960s tumblers in their own carrying case on my own.
Death to plastic utensils! This German silver flatware service has everything I’ll need for a meal al fresco including twelve ice cream spoons and fish forks.
As a nod to my Georgia roots, this vintage standing Coca-Cola cooler.
