Eco-Chic Home: The Book by Emily Anderson

by Talis Lin

ECO-CHIC HOME: Rethink, Reuse & Remake Your Way to Sustainable Style by Emily Anderson.  The VandM.com Team had the pleasure to recently meet Emily Anderson, author of the 2010 book ECO-CHIC HOME, and blogger of Good with Style.

Perfect for the recent crafting movement, Emily shows us in ECO-CHIC HOME how to take everyday items around us, and instead of throwing them out after you are done with them, reusing and remaking the pieces to become great design. The book features 65 design projects, ranging from making a bowl out of old magazines, to making a handmade lamp out of painted flower pots.

“Eco-Chic Home is about celebrating our connection to all living things, no matter how great or how small,” states author Emily Anderson. “For me, these choices boil down to mindfulness, intention, and action. To live every moment understanding that you are a force in the world is what being mindful is all about… Intention is how you deal with mindfulness. It’s what you do to make an impact…Taking action is how to make your intentions happen.”

Clearly, Eco-Chic Home covers all of these bases, with the intention of the book to be about greener living through the creation (action) of beautiful design that is green. Just looks at these pictures. Fantastic.

I’m a convert and I certainly see several (if not dozens) of the projects featured in the book soon to be taking a place in my own home. I think a glass of wine would go perfect with this.

And just in time for the holidays!
