FALL FASHION MUST HAVES

by Vera Djonovic

Austere luxury, classics and the reinvented look of past decades rule collections for Fall/Winter 2010-2011.

From slim and sleek to full and feminine, textures of high quality fabrics, cashmere, knit, mohair and leather, camel and gray are this season’s standout must haves that every woman will want.

1. THE CAMEL COAT
This is a true classic piece you will keep for years to come. It goes with everything from day into night. You can pull it together with any look, from tailored full trousers, feminine soft blouses, dresses to roughed-up jeans. You can mix camel with grey, beige, toffee, cappuccino, taupe, white and black.

2. TAILORED
Menswear-inspired suits, full-length trousers, feminine blouses and pointy kitten heels scream smart, powerful and confident. These power suits will take you from the office to a business lunch meeting to dinner date. Every woman must invest in one of them.

3. LONGER SKIRTS-of the 50s-60s are back
Long is back, from pencil A-line to fuller styles – it reminds me that 50s and 60s are back. Wear these lady like skirts with over-the-knee boots or flats. If you are more into pencil or a fuller skirt, think Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Flare sweet reminds me of Grace Kelly.

4. FUR AND SHEARLING
Make a simple outfit spectacular. From boots, bags, and vests, to knee-length coats, fur proved to be popular trend this season. Quality and variety are amazing. Keep it cozy and glamorous with a touch of fur.

5. GOLD
Glamorous gold - love it! A touch of gold – every woman wants… It’s a head turner.

6. LEOPARD ACCENTS
Update your wardrobe with a touch of leopard print. Wear it with camel, gray or black. If your personal style is quite classic, a sweater, belt, gloves, bag, or pair of flats in an animal print is a better choice than a tight dress, coat, or boots.

7. TOP-HANDLE BAGS
A woman’s best friend and life carrier. Complete the look with one of these great bags.

8. CHUNKY KNITS
Cozy, comfortable, snuggley and chic, chunky knits are my first choice for a day in the country or on weekends. Style it with a dress, tights, long sleeve t-shirt and leather pants. These gorgeous knits come in a variety of shapes and necklines.

9. LEATHER JACKETS
You can go cropped and a bit boxy, or choose one that has a shaped waist. You can wear it with jeans but don’t hesitate to toss one over a shirred jersey dress or over a sparkly mini dress.

10. BOOTS
From furry, peep-toe, over-the-knee, flat, or high heels, boots are fall’s must haves. They are warm and comfortable for winter days. Wear them with a pencil or full skirt, tapered pants, chunky knits, fur, and cocktail gold dress.
